Elaine Mullen - Owner / Manager

Elaine started her career in 1980 with one of the largest chartered accounting firms in the world after completing her accounting studies. In 1980 she became a member of The IPA and in 1982 became a registered tax agent. Elaine is now a Fellow of the IPA. She worked in public practice for Chartered Accountants in Sydney over a period of 17 years, 10 of which were in tax manager roles and as a self managed super fund specialist.

Elaine saw the opportunity to start her own accounting practice from home in 1997 when she moved to WA with her family. In May 2007 the firm was moved to larger premises in Joondalup. The business has grown largely due to client referrals and Elaine’s focus is ensuring clients receive quality work in a stress free environment.

2012 saw new and innovative changes to the practice, driven by Elaine to keep up to date with the latest technologies, embrace cloud accounting and quoting all business and advisory jobs. This fundamental shift from “old school” accounting practice has been a necessary change that Elaine believes can help businesses have the most up to date accounting records and allow them better manage their cash flow and make important business and tax planning decisions.   

Outside of work Elaine enjoys the company of family and friends, reading, playing “words with friends” on her iPhone and is looking forward to the marriages of both of her twin daughters this year.

Sara Mullen - Accountant

Sara has been working with EMA Tax Accountants & Business Advisors since 2006. Sara holds a Diploma in Business, a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Marketing and has recently taken on her Master’s Degree in Taxation. She is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Public Accountants. 

Sara has worked in both the public and private sectors of accounting, but believes her passion lies with public practice and the ability to help business and individuals with taxation and accounting requirements.  Sara’s interests in property investment and tax planning have assisted her to grow her own property portfolio as well as assist with tax planning and growth strategies for clients. Her passion for new ideas and latest cloud technologies, have helped promote EMA as an innovative accounting practice.

Personally, Sara enjoys spending time with her fiancé, family and friends, music, reading, scuba diving and training her German Shepherd.

Julie Wainwright - Office Administrator/Bookkeeper

Julie joined EMA Tax Accountants & Business Advisors in April 2011. Prior to joining EMA, Julie worked in the banking sector for over 14 years in the various fields, including accounting, before completing her Diploma in Accounting in 2010.

Julie has embraced cloud technologies at EMA and is Xero Certified. She has also been able to help clients with their bookkeeping and transitions to Xero accounting software.

As office administrator, Julie ensures the busy office of EMA runs smoothly and is a valued member of the EMA team.

Julie is a busy mother of two teenage daughters. Julie likes to keep fit, reading, sewing and volunteering at her daughter’s dancing competitions.
